OOTD Carefree

Love cute and carefree outfits, and that for me comes through in this outfit with the slouchy pale pink tank and flowy grey jersey. Then I added my high waisted denim shorts and white sneakers and then just for the added easy going pretty touch to the outfit I added my lace covered potion bottle necklace (I'm absolutely in love with this necklace)

P.s. I liked this outfit so much that I felt it deserved a feature on my http://southafricanstreetfashion.blogspot.com/ blog.

New Clothes!!!! Yay!

I, like pretty much every single girl on the planet, loves to get new clothes and finally after waiting for my Mr Price online order to arrive for what feels like forever, I finally got them this morning. So here's what I got and ways that I could think of for now of how to dress them up.
I love playing dress-up...just by the way.

And please just pretend you don't see how messy my room is behind me but you cant try things on without making a mess. And yes some pictures I have 2 different types of shoes on and I promise this was done on purpose to show 2 different styles in one picture. Hope you enjoy! I know I did.

Fashion Blog South African style

For anyone who is interested, especially if you are from South Africa, check out my other blog http://southafricanstreetfashion.blogspot.com/. My aim for this blog is to capture ordinary SA people going about their lives dressed like rockstars! If New York and London should have fashion representation and reputation then so should we!

I hope to have more posts to add to the blog by the end of the week

OOTD: Combat Princess

For some reason I love mixing girly and tough styles together, so this outfit was fun for me. The girly high waisted skater skirt and peplum top tucked in with a side of edgy and tough by adding the combat boots. I don't think this is exactly work appropriate but I couldn't help myself. The heart wants what the heart wants! LOL

Feeling overwhelmed

Today I am Feeling a bit like this, like a big cup of crazy! I am happy and sad and confused and angry and excited all at the same time! Its quite a lot to deal with all at once.

I am extremely happy because I am finally getting my fashion blog going
I am exited about the fact that my European registration is well on it's way finally
I am sad because there are a lot of things affecting a lot of people that I care about
I am confused because there is so much that I want to do and so much playing on my mind
and I am angry because things are getting bad with the world, everyone is suffering and then I get more angry when I know that it doesn't have to be this way. We are many, the people who are suffering, and the majority of problems are tied back to money. And think about it, if all of us just said we don't need money and it became obsolete, would most of the suffering of the world not go away? I know there would be some kinks at first, like working out that we need to share our resources with the rest of the world and learn to provide for one another, but it is completely possible and if you think otherwise maybe you should take some time and actually think about it. Imagine a world with no material crimes, no envy, no hate, no poverty, no hunger. It's completely achievable.

So in a way I feel as though I have the weight of the world on my shoulders, I have always had this affliction but it hurts me when things could be better for everyone, all we need to do is speak up for it.

"Enough to make you mad" RANT!

This morning I woke up really badly, I'm in a bad mood, I woke up late, it took forever to find something to wear and I was late for work and along the way the drive was absolute rubbish too!
So all these events linked to last night...so here I was at home with my family and my next door neighbors have been renovating or something, but they don't do it the old fashioned way like everybody else...NO, they do it while basically screaming and not talking to each other over loud and annoying music whilst making a hell of a noise renovating with banging and clanking and smashing. All of this from some time during the day until 3am...this is the problem with this country and I'm sure every South African will know exactly what I am talking about and will have their own set of stories and I wish that this was the only story that I had to tell but sadly it is not. I am not saying that SA is all bad, there are many things that I love about SA but for me, if the people are wrong in a country then that is enough to outweigh the good!
I could deal with all the problems that South Africa has, and boy does it have a lot of problems, but I could deal with all of these, what I can't deal with is the inconsideration that people have for one another! It's disgusting actually! Everyone just out for themselves, not a care about how their actions will affect the next person, just selfishly going about their lives. And believe me I am not perfect but above all I do try and consider how my actions could affect another person!
Here are some more examples just from my catalog of experiences
  • People crossing the road without a pedestrian crossing, getting knocked by a car and then the driver goes to jail ( I have honestly seen this a couple of times, young people Ages 8-13, dancing in the street, taunting the cars, making the cars swerve around them, basically just being cocky because they know that the cars won't actually hit them
  • Taxis creating themselves their own lane from the emergency lane
  • People in shopping centers standing in the middle of a walk way and not being considerate of people wanting to pass
  • Cars & taxis pulling over wherever they like and interrupting other cars in the lane
These are really just a few examples that I can think of off the top of my head, believe me this is just skimming the surface, if you are South African and are feeling this post, comment below, let me know what things irritate you about SA, or if not let me know what you love about SA and how this tops everything else for you?

My idea of the perfect world could be summed up in these 3 words THE VENUS PROJECT!!!
if you would like to understand better what I'm talking about here...go check it out, it is the perfect world and it is achievable, I think it just takes change within ourselves, a selfless society and the world would be perfect

DIY Halloween outfit: The Rag doll, The witch and The Zombie bride

This was my DIY Halloween party outfit, along with my boyfriend's mother and sister's outfits. We had a lot of fun creating these outfits and helping each other get ready. Halloween is not exactly very big in South Africa so when we get a chance to dress up, we take full advantage! I love the way my outfit turned out considering it was all DIY.
My outfit consisted of everything from my closet and things around my house. I just wore a LBD, and cute high socks that i had at home which have bones and a bow at the back (which i should have taken a pic of), my faux JC Litas and then I just cut and sewed my apron from some material I had lying around, stained it with some fake blood and did a skull cutout and then lastly i just drew some stitching on myself
And just excuse the fact that my one eye lash is coming off, it was going rogue and I forgot to bring the glue with...Silly me

Loved the way this Zombie bride outfit and makeup turned out! It looked super cute! At this point she had eaten all the people and had to resort to eating snakes...he he he

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly of Food

This post  I would like to share some of the more basic food and lifestyle changes that I have been trying to make since I became a health conscious type of person. Some of them are very easy to transition from and other not so much

These are foods that are bad for you and can be swapped out for a similar alternative

  • Milk is a bad one as our bodies are not meant to process it. It can have some pretty nasty side effects. Below are some links to sites that I have found to support this. Milk can be swapped out with any of the following healthy alternatives rice milk, almond milk, coconut milk, soy milk, flax seed milk, hemp milk, geez honestly the alternatives are endless here, but yes I am guilty of loving milk, i use rice milk as an alternative but im finding it difficult to completely cut milk out, its a work in progress.  http://saveourbones.com/osteoporosis-milk-myth/ ,http://www.notmilk.com/http://www.naturalnews.com/031255_milk_health.html#
  • Sugar, this one should be well known fact by now, it makes you fat, it causes spikes in blood sugar levels, it irritates your body's insulin production and like it or not sugar is addictive, I have found it easy to cut out sugar except when it comes to sugar as in ingredient in other products like chocolate and candy...so once again guilty! Otherwise I use Raw Agave nectar, some other alternatives are things like Stevia, Xylitol, Coconot sugar, raw honey. Although the alternatives are a ton better than refined sugar, some of them may have some slight side effects, it is important to do your research and see which one suits you best at the end of the day. http://www.eatingitreal.com/8-reasons-why-refined-sugar-is-so-bad-for-you/
  • Salt (Table salt), this one for me has been the easiest to transition away from because the alternative is basically the same. The alternatives being pure Sea salt or Himalayan salt. Salt is in fact good for you in many ways, but the process that normal salt goes through to get to how we buy it is where the problem comes in. Some chemicals added to table salt include aluminium derivatives, fluoride, anti-caking agents and bleach. http://www.globalhealingcenter.com/natural-health/dangers-of-salt/

Next here are some ingredients found in many foods, even ones that we sometimes do not expect ( Most of these have become general knowledge these days though)

  • Aspartame - found in diet sodas and some other low fat or no fat products
  • MSG (Monosodium Glutamate E621) - this is mostly a powder flavour and can be found is most crisps, sauces, spices, most fast foods use MSG to addd flavour
  • Phenylalanine - found mostly in soft drinks
  • Acesulfame-K - found often with Phenylalanine
  • Fluoride - found in most toothpastes and mouth cleaning products, your tap water and many chewing gums

I have made these lifestyle changes due to my own research but please I am not telling anyone that they have to do anything, you do what feels right to you but if in doubt about whats going into your body when you eat, just do some research of your own and make a decision from there.
